Earning your Certified Special Event Professional (CSEP) designation means something special; it means you are among the best of the best in the live events profession. Clients that see CSEP with your name take notice because it conveys that you have top-notch creative capabilities, a track record of professionalism and an overall commitment to excellence.
But you will need to earn that reputation. (more on that below). Once you do, the designation is like a package of event excellence containing the following:

- To qualify as a candidate for the CSEP exam, you must have a minimum of three years of full-time events industry employment.
- Once your application is approved, you will schedule your exam at one of several testing location sites worldwide.
- The CSEP is a 4.5-hour computer-based examination, consisting of two parts: a 100 multiple-choice question portion and a written portion.
- The exam covers details of the four phases of live events production:
- Development phase
- Pre-Production phase
- Production phase
- Post-Production
