ILEA Legacy Member Q&A: Joanne Brooks

As the founder and director of The Creative Impact Group, Inc., Joanne Brooks is responsible for the management and development of creative meetings and events for corporations, associations and trade groups. The Creative Impact Group has long standing relationships with many of its clients including Discover Financial, Kraft Foods, Matsui America, Accutrac Software, and the National Paper Trade Association, among others. Ms. Brooks currently travels the nation managing events and production for corporations holding meetings, events and product launches.
ILEA: Looking back over the course of your career, what has been the most influential factor that has shaped the direction of the events industry?
Brooks: The growth of technology has been the largest influencer. It has significantly expanded our reach to our clients and colleagues, connecting us all in so many new ways.
ILEA: What is the one piece of advice you wish you had at the beginning of your career?
Brooks: Our world and our industry is ever-changing. Trends will continue to evolve and we need to continuously evolve with them creatively.
ILEA: Looking forward, what do you anticipate will be the most significant trend to shape the future direction of this industry?
Brooks: Connectivity. Humans are social beings. They will continue to find ways to connect and socialize. It is important for those in our industry to find ways to help them to do that.
ILEA: What does it mean to you to be considered a mentor or leader in this space?
Brooks: It is an honor. I have such passion for my work and this industry. I want to continue to share my passion with others.
ILEA: Please describe the value of being a member of ILEA and what this has meant to your career.
Brooks: ILEA has helped me to be successful by providing a platform with the cornerstones of its mission: networking, professional development, inspiration and awareness. Thank you for giving me these opportunities.
